Traveling Details...

We left Monday after I got off work & drove to El Paso. We arrived around 1am I believe, slept until 6:30am & set out for San Antonio. We stopped at Taco Cabana for breakfast, which consisted of Fajitas & Super Nachos... best breakfast ever!! LOL!!!

We made it to San Antonio just before dinner. We stayed with our cousin Elice. Amber's kids had a blast playing with Elice's boys. We spent the next day, Wednesday in San Antonio playing at Elice's Pump It Up location & visiting the land Elice & Chris have purchased to build their new home on... that alone made me want to move back to Texas! It was such a beautiful piece of property with amazing views!
Thursday morning we started our trek to Crystal Beach to our family's beach house. We made a stop in Houston to have a fabulous lunch with 2 of our best girlfriends from high school & their kids. It was awesome to see them & talk about old times all while 8 kids ran wild lol! After lunch we loaded up to continue the long drive through Houston... we seriously forgot how BIG Houston is! It seemed like it took 3 times as long to drive through than Phoenix. We made it to Galveston, made a couple of quick stops & hopped on the ferry to Bolivar Peninsula. The kids loved going up to the observation deck on the ferry & even got to see dolphins!

We were welcomed at the beach by our Aunt Sharon, Uncle Jack & our Nanny. They met us there so we could spend a day enjoying the beach & playing since the kids had been couped up for so long. We all love the beach, & had a fabulous time. The boys met up with us on Thursday night & it was good to see them again!

Friday we spent time lounging. Clint got to experience the Gulf Coast for the first time...he was a little surprised by the temperature of the water. It's warm there! The kids loved it, we loved it & it was very relaxing. I would also move to the beach in a heartbeat! We went back into Galveston for lunch on Friday. I said the only way I would make the trip with Amber was if I could go to my favorite Mexican restaurant on earth at least one while I was in Texas. There are only 2 locations & one happens to be at the beach. I have to say... It was disappointing. Overall my meal was good, but it wasn't the same. Oh well! At least now I know! haha! It was fun to drive around the island though. I can't believe how much is still ruined from the Hurricane a couple years ago. I'm talking hotels over the water still destroyed & sitting there. It was kinda sad to see.

We got up Saturday morning for the last leg of our journey. New Orleans or bust! I felt like this was the part that took the longest. I think it was because of the excitement to get there. We made a few stops along the way &FINALLY made it to NOLA in the late afternoon.

We decided to stop at Target on our way to the new home to grab a few essentials... just in case. It was kinda fun because Amber's closest Target is 2 levels! The kids LOVED that there was an escalator in Target & even more cool than that was a cart escalator.

Their new home is about 10 minuets from Target. We were really surprised as we turned onto their street at how nice the houses were. She rented this home basically site unseen & didn't know tons about the area other than it was safe, had a decent school & was fairly close to the LSU medical campus where Burke is doing his residency. The house is super cute. It's a great size for their family. They have great neighbors, some of which even brought dinner over, iced tea (we're in the south remember!), water etc. Random people were stopping by to say hi. It put a lot of my fears at ease. I was worried about them living in some ghetto area filled with crime. Their area is nothing like that, thankfully!

We spent the next week un-packing, making trips to wal-mart & decorating. We fit in a quick stop to the french quarter, a national preserve & to City Park. It was hard balancing doing fun activities with getting things settled, especially when it poured most of the week!! I loved every second of it & can't wait to go back for a visit!
