...just to let me down! It is no shock to anyone that knows me that I am a loyal Target fan/consumer! Let me tell you about our experience tonight.When we walked into the store we noticed a new sign they had up stating very boldly that they now price match! Can you imagine how happy this made me? Me, the girl who loathes Walmart & virtually has a panic attack or flip-out session on poor Clint every time I have to go there. I was ecstatic!
We had a $2.00 off coupon that was expiring for the food court so we ran over to grab some Pizza Hut before we began our shopping trip. When we were checking out the lady was like oh, I've got tons of extra pizza tonight so it's buy one get one free! SWEET! We got 2 personal pizzas, 2 bread sticks & 2 large drinks for $4.00 because she also took off the $2.00 from our coupon. It was a great surprise & even better for the ole pocket book! (it meant I could have my favorite fall beverage from Starbucks!!)
After we were done eating we headed out into the store and picked up some grocery items & some toilet paper. The TP was on sale at Fry's Marketplace (Krogers) so we thought great, we'll just price match it based on the signs we saw when we came into the store.
We then got up to the check out & put the TP on last so it would be easy to price match. So, the girl then told us that we actually have to go to customer service to have them put the difference back on our card. Fair enough, it was brand new after all. Maybe they haven't had training to allow all the employees to be up to speed on how it works. So a little annoying but excusable.
So, we go over to customer service & the girl there asked for the ad. I grabbed it out of my bag & opened to the page in the ad & showed her the price. She then says, "oh, I can't price match it because you only get that price with a VIP card." Really? We said.
Apparently Target only price matches exact items without the store club card & it cannot be any of the multiple sales like 10 for 10 etc. So essentially they price match for Walmart & Albertson's on Name Brand items only.
Talk about a let down. We were so excited about price matching because of my Walmart issues & we generally like our Target experiences more. But, when Walmart price matches & are open 24 hours, it's hard not to go there. I am still super bummed about this situation. I hope they realize how much business they'll loose because of people getting annoyed & will course correct. I mean could you imagine if I'd had a cart full of things to price match? It would've been a nightmare! So we then returned the TP & headed over to Fry's Marketplace to grab our TP & some items that were on the multiple sale.
So, Target. You really built me up & I like usual had a wonderful experience at your store until I tried to do this new "price matching" thing, which I wouldn't really call price matching so I was totally let down!

Sad Days!! That is totally lame. Well at least you got a great deal on the pizzas! :]
ReplyDeletei agree--at least you got an awesome deal on the pizza! i don't even see what the point in putting up the big price matching sign. they are going to have a lot of angry people over the next few weeks!
