So I'm a nanny. I'm really loving it! I have a lot of fun with the kids & find it really rewarding. I've tried to get the kids on a schedule of sorts so they know what to expect each day. It's not ridged because I want to allow time for us to include spontaneous fun things in without the kids getting thrown off, but there is one thing that is pretty certain we always do when I'm with them.
That one activity is playing the WII with the 4 year old boy while the baby is napping. I've found it's a fun thing for the 2 of us to do & as he says "she doesn't get in the way while we're trying to play". Our adventures are endless, archery & track one day, cow racing the next & even air hockey or skeet shooting. Well, the Easter bunny brought him a new game! It's called Just Dance. Let me tell you... it's fun & this kid has those songs down like the back of his hand.
On Monday we were on a little different schedule than normal so we were playing later in the afternoon because it's one of his favorite things to do each day. So, there we are dancing, singing & blurting out things like Yee-Haw & That's what I'm talking about! No biggie! Part of the routine if you will, he's four remember!
This is where we get to the part of the story that might interest you. As we're having a fabulous time jamming out to "Who let the dogs out", for baby sister of course, I kept watching for their Dad to walk past the window by the front door so I could compose myself a little before he came in. That area was not a straight shot from where we were in the living room, but I can see the shadows on the tile move so I kept watching for him. Didn't see anything for a bit so once we got to that song I really let loose because the kids thought it was hilarious! We were having so much fun! Then almost towards the end of the song the little rascal looked over to the kitchen & said, "Hey Dad"! I looked over & was mortified!!! Justin was standing there almost rolling on the floor in laughter!
I wanted to die right then & there! How long had he been there? Did I pick a wedgie? Was I being a good care taker? What did he see? These questions racing through my mind. I didn't have an answer for any of them. How did he get in without me seeing him? Basically from any angle downstairs I can see if someone is coming in the front door & I never saw it even open. OMG! I'm the worst Nanny ever! How did I not see someone enter the house, especially someone like Justin who is over 6'4!!!

Oh Heather, that is funny!
