I am thankful I am going to the temple today! I'm a little embarrassed to say it's been a couple of months...defiantly not the standard I've set for myself. I'm so excited to escape a bit & be a little closer to God.
I often think about how fortunate I am to live half an hour away from a temple. I remember growing up when the youth in our ward would get on a charter bus at 3 or 4 in the morning & drive 5 hours to Dallas to attend the temple. We'd grab lunch afterward & then travel the 5 hours home. Dallas was my temple growing up & was always a sacrifice to attend, but my parents did it regularly! I know that even if it were 10 hours away, it would have been just as important for them to get there often.
Then, we got the Houston temple, a mere hour away with traffic. That was a huge blessing for our family & the members of that area. That is where Clint & I were married! So, it's always been special to me.
Now, I've got Mesa! Which TONS of my family has been sealed in, including my parents. Again, I feel so blessed to be so close to it!
Soon we'll have the Gilbert temple. I drive past it several times a week on my way to or from work. I can't help but feel the anticipation in the air. Last week as I drove by there was this cowboy out with this truck, trailer & tools cleaning up weeds on the outside of the temple fence. It's nothing but dirt, but he obviously felt the importance to keep the temple grounds beautiful...it kinda made me teary to see someone so dedicated. I look forward to Gilbert. I can't wait to be even 10 min. closer to a temple & have it be even more convenient so I can go weekly...because that's my ultimate goal!
