a miner first

Clint's family is a hiking family! I knew this walking into our marriage, but never really gave it much thought. I have been around for 6 years now & not once in that time frame have I ever even entertained the idea of going with them. It's just not my cup of tea.

Let me give you a little bit of background before you say anything! My family is not a hiking family. We're not really an outdoorsy family! You try being outdoors in the nasty Texas humidity or better yet dealing with all the bugs. I have however gone on lots of hikes throughout my life with my church group & friends. Not once in those times did I ever enjoy them, much less want to do any more.

So, when I met Clint & his family, I just decided from day one that I would never be a part of the whole hikeing thing...Until this year!

I decided that since my word for 2009 is CHANGE, than what better of a change could I make then to join them on the New Year's Day hike. So, I put all my negative past experience behind me, put on my comfy shoes, filled up the water bottle (which we forgot!) & charged my camera battery (I did not want to miss this monumental moment!).

We had a nice time (even if we did get off course the first go around, it wasn't to bad!) & the weather was wonderful. It was a nice change & I'm really glad I decided to be a part of it. It was fun having Tyson there because he was even slower than I was!! He set his own pace & wasn't hurrying for anyone!

Now, with that said, I can't guarantee I'll go on ALL the hikes, but I do promise to make a token appearance a couple times a year!!

After the hike Brad & Meg had to take off & we headed back to Mesa & dropped Amy off & then went had a nice lunch with Clint's parents (thanks!), it was a good day!
